In Norse mythology, Odin was the king of
the Æsir.
He is a god of war, but also associated to wisdom,
poetry,
and magic.
Odin rides on an eight-legged horse called Sleipnir, and his
famous spear is called Gungnir. He also has
an precious arm ring called Draupnir, and two
ravens called Hugin and Munin who tell him all the things
happening around the world. Odin only has one eye, because he
sacrificed one to drink from the fountain of wisdom.
Half of the souls of heroes slain in battles will be guided by the Valkyries, battle maidens, to Odin's hall, Valhalla.
The other half belongs to the goddess Freyja.
His wife is Frigg and Jord, the
Earth. His eldest son is Thor, god of thunder.
Odin would be swallowed by Loki's
son, the wolf Fenrir at Ragnarok.

Odin also has eighteen charms. Which he gained, and I could be wrong about this, when he hung himself as an offering to himself.

I found them in a book I was reading American Gods By Neil Gaiman.
1: A charm that can cure pain and sickness, and lift grief from the heart of the grieving.
2: A charm that will heal with a touch.
3: A charm that will turn aside the weapons of an enemy.
4: A charm to free him from all bonds and locks.
5: A charm to catch an arrow in flight and take no harm from it.
6: A charm to make spells sent to hurt him only hurt the sender.
7: A charm to quench a fire simply by looking at it.
8: A charm to make any man that hates him be willing to give him friendship.
9: A charm to sing the wind to sleep and calm a storm long enough to bring a ship to shore.
10: A charm to dispel witches and make it so they can never find their ways home.
11: A charm that when sung during a battle can take warriors through the tumult unhurt and bring them back home.
12: A charm to make a hanged man in the gallows come down and whisper all that he rememebers.
13: A charm so that if he sprinkles water on a child's head that child will not fall in battle.
14: A charm to know the names of all the gods.
15: A charm to make people believe in his dreams of power, glory, and wisdom.
16: A charm to make it so that if he needs love he can turn any woman's mind and heart to him.
17: A charm to make any woman that he wants never want another.
18: A secret that he can tell no man for it is strongest when unknown.
